Monday 27th of May was the official beginning of Samoan Language week for 2019. There are Samoan events held across the whole of New Zealand. That means if you known some Samoan, share it with everyone. I'm going to attempt to write some sentences in Samoan.

Mt Cook Broke The Record

Not so long ago Mt Cook broke a record with the most people to visit the mountain. Mt Cook is the biggest mountain in New Zealand and during the past few years it has had a million people visit it. Nine years ago the Department of Conversation (DOC) upgrade around Mt Cook so that it can make it easier for the visitors. The DOC put more roads for cars, more passageways and put more toilets around the area.

I think that it's cool that a huge mountain hit 1 million reviews and I hope one day to visit it.

Welcome To Ruapotaka School

This morning, Ruapotaka School had a powhiri to welcome our guest from ERO. ERO is a company that visits schools to observe how they learn. ERO stands for Education Review Office community.

Our guests names were Richard and Pam. During the powhiri we greeted them with a few speeches by Tristan, Sosiua and myself... We also sang a couple of songs. Afterwards Richard had a go at speaking, but it was in his two languages. Maori and Samoan.

When the powhiri came to an end the guests and Mrs Hamilton gave us a hongi and a hand shake. All the teachers were impressed by the way we presented it and how it went as planned.
