Today we had a very special assembly hosted by, Mrs Samuel-Latu her kids and her sister. They came to our school to present some awards, like money for our chromebook deposits and brand new uniform.
At the assembly Mrs Latu gave a emotional speech about, her mum passing away and how Mrs Vickers our principal, had been there through the rough times and how she was like a mother to them.
In the end Mrs Latu and her sister handed out the awards to some yr 5's. There were only 4 yr 5 students that received a reward and they were Joy, Pita, Solomon and lucky last Aleki. They all received a award for how hard they worked and not giving up on learning etc.

The Last Day Of Tech
Wednesday, 28th of November was the last day of Tech. When we arrived I started on my box, but I had to wait for 30 minutes in order to let the glue dry. As soon as the glue dried the teacher brought out a box full of different colours to choose from. I chose dark blue. My box isn't any kind of box, it's different to other boxes just wait until you see it.
At the moment "the necklace and the box" is currently with Mr Grundy being marked. I wanted to bring it back, but it wasn't checked or ready, so I couldn't.
Luckily, Mr Grundy said that he'd deliver it to Ruapotaka School after it's been checked and marked.

Christmas Crossover
This week we've started Christmas Crossover. We were split into different groups. In each group there was a student from St Kents. When all the groups were sorted the St Kent students were given a room to go to, then we all went to our classes. In my group were some juniors and a bunch of seniors.
Our group had a chance to either colour or make something. Most of the group were colouring, but all the juniors were making something.
It was fun having Christmas Crossover, but I wonder if I'll have more fun in the other classes.

The Necklace And The Box
(I've made the cross for my aunty)
Today at Tech, I finished my necklace. My last step was to polish the necklace with some Brasso.I started something new, something better, a box. It's not just any kind of box, it's a box to put my necklace in. I haven't finished yet, but I will be done by next week, Wednesday.
The Big Crash
Sophia Floersch, the German racer, had a horrible accident and is now going through surgery.
This accident occurred because she was going 280 kilometres an hour. While she was speeding down the road she crashed into the car in front of her, lifting the vehicle in the air and into a being-built building.
Here is a video.

The Duffy Play
On Tuesday there was a Duffy Play hosted by people from around New Zealand. The play was called "Duffy And The Cloak Bay Bully."
In the play Duffy is best friends with Ashley, but what he doesn't know is that she is a bully. He hasn't found out that she was a bully until he met Melony, a victim of Ashley's bullying. When he saw Ashley he confronted her for bullying Melony.
In the end the book Duffy lent Melony was offered to Ashley from Melony so she could read it and be calm. Duffy was aware of this and allowed it.

Manaiakalani Film Festival
Today all the Rooms went by bus to the Sylvia Park cinemas. Every class created a movie which were all related to hooked onto learning. The Y8 students created a movie called "Journey To Success," and it was about where their grandparents were from and why they came to New Zealand.
There were more schools that also had awesome movies like Pt England, when the boys were told by Samantha that girls don't fart. The boys went off on the hunt for girls that would fart in order to prove Samantha wrong.
Here is a link to Room 12's Movie.

Tennis Practice
23rd of October was the day we started tennis practice with Coach Pete.
We started with a game, the point was to see who could pick up the ball quicker then your partner. After that we shifted over to where the tennis racquets were and the nets. Pete gave us some instructions to do like, your partner has to throw the ball over the net, making the ball land in front of the hitter so he or she can have some time to react. Pete then said "If you have someone behind you and I say change over, then you have to switch with them." While we were playing Pete told us to sit down so that he can talk.
In the end Pete was giving us instructions, just to stay in your spots and letting the ball bounce off the net.

Farewell Coach Renee
Yesterday the 4th of September, Room 12 said goodbye to Coach Renee. If you don't know Renee, she is our Volleyball coach and she's been with us for weeks. She has taught us a lot of moves like, a spike, dig, under arm serve and overarm serve. She has also taught us how to prep for a spike which was a bit easy.
It was a great experience learning new things in Volleyball and knowing how to play an actual game of Volleyball. We hope to see you again in the future.

Tuesday Volleyball
Tuesdays are the days we have Volleyball. We've been practising with Renee, our coach. She taught us how to do a lot of hard and easy moves. The hardest move for me would be the spike. It's hard because you wouldn't know when to spike the ball and where. So ever since we've been practising I've improved in spiking the ball. Now I know how to spike the ball, but not properly just a beginner spike.
By the way the class learnt something that day. We also have to learn one move each day, so that we don't have to get mixed up learning two moves at once.

Kevin And Hunter
Today we had to say farewell to four visitors. There were two students named Kevin and Hunter and the teachers name was Miss Cheng. When they arrived at Ruapotaka School we had a special assembly to welcome them. While they were here, they enjoyed there time with some classes, doing sport and a lot of maths.
Sadly we had to say farewell to them because they had to explore the rest of Auckland. So when they were leaving we had another assembly, the prefects handed each of them some gifts. In the end they left with their gifts and headed home.

Kahurangi
Wednesday 1st of August we had an amazing show being shown by the people of Kahurangi. There were six of them, they started off
there show with a dance. Through out the whole show their were bits where comedy was involved and it was funny, there was a scene where one of the girl actors dressed up as a boy and pretend married a lady. She even had the moustache and everything.
Going to the end there a part where the actors chose three people from the audience to come up to the front. The tree people that was chosen was 2 students, Kingston and Texas, then the last person was a teacher, Mr Reid. All they had to do was follow the instructions the actor gave them, some moves looked funny, but what was funny was when he made the noises.
They finished the show with questions and then a student prefect had to say a thank you speech to finish the show.

Tonga VS Samoa
In the weekends there was a rugby league game being held in Australia. It was the Tonga vs Samoa game. There were some new players in the Tongan team and in the Samoan team too. During the game a few Tongan players were injured badly and some just hurt a little. Either way the game was awesome. There were some tries that were out of the box and some tries that were just fine. Nearly everyone in the Tongan team tried, but some just missed out on their chance. I was happy when Tonga was presented with the Victory in the end.

My Basket And Heart Weaving
Last week we did weaving with our teacher. He sent us an e-mail to a tutorial video about weaving a basket. The video looked easy to make, but when we made it, it was a hard weaving to make. One of my friends made it quickly because it was easy for him, and the rest of us were on it for 2 to 3 days. After we were done we had to put our baskets at the back of the class.

Hip Hop With Jess💃
Today we had Hip Hop with Jess. Jess wanted us to first start off with a warm up and then started dancing. In the warm up we did some stretching and some head movements, we also had to practice doing the wave starting from the tips of our fingers.
After that we played a game of musical statues, when the music stopped we had to either sit down, do dance moves and more. As soon as we finished playing our game we moved into our groups that we were put in to finish our group dance. In the end Jess called us out to do our dancing in front of the class, my group was up first.
Later on, the last group was up to do their dance and it was pretty cool, they had some Fortnite dances and made up dances in their dance. Some of the groups were shy, but they made it through strong.

📖 Buddy Reading 📖
Yesterday 29th of May we had buddy reading with Room 6. When they arrived at our classroom they were split one by one to go and work with a year 7 or year 8. When the year 3s were all separated we then started reading our blogs to them.
I was working with a boy named Ray. He was so interested in what he was seeing on my blog and on Room 1's blog! He was also excited just to see my drawing from Tech. Ray was only 9 so he wasn't particularly interested in the writing so I just showed him my drawings and then read him one of my story's.
As soon as the Room 6 students lined up they left to go back to their classroom. After that we then had to get back with our learning and concentrate.

Making An Egg Burger
Today at Tech we made healthy egg burgers with some tomatoes and onions. It was a quick and easy burger to make. The teacher, chef, Mrs Tuipulotu, said it was better than the Big Mac at McDonald's, but I can't lie it actually was. I worked with a friend of mine, Riiana and it was cool.
The burger was very easy to make because all we had to do was add oil to the pan. Then put the front left element to 180*c, as soon as we did that we had to crack four eggs into the pan and leave it. We then had to collect our vegetables and slice them, when the eggs were ready we had to put the eggs on a plate and leave it to cool down. Seconds later we had to collect the buns and put all the ingredients together. In the end the burger turned out to be a perfect and healthy burger.
This week was the last week so we had to make a quick one and start blogging. Next week we will move onto Mr Grundy's class and we'll be crafting.

The Football Inter School Tournament
On Wednesday we had our Football tournament at Point England Reserve. In our team we had 11 people in our team plus me and the two teachers.
Once we arrived at the Reserve there were a lot of schools already there getting ready. So when we parked up we went straight to our spot on the field, as soon as we were there we were told we had 6 games against other schools that was there. Our teacher said that we only had a short brake before we play our first game, so we then started practising on a field right in the front of us.
After that the big horn went off and that meant our first game was going to start so we went into our positions. Our first game was against Panmure District and the score was 0-6. We were happy we won our first game, but we lost some games and had a draw for some games. People in our team was fine with how much loses we had, but our captain kept on saying "work as a team".
In the end we were told that we came last with another school called Panmure District.

Our Daily Fitness!!
On our first day back at school we had to start running laps for our fitness. We had to jog around the entire senior block, including the basketball and netball courts. Teachers spread themselves around the block . There is one teacher (Mrs Golder) who stands at the top of the hill with her phone timing us. We only run for 10 mins and when it's over we line up where we started from.
We start the running routine at the bottom of a hill and work our way around the block. Lap by lap people would be yelled at to start running because they walk too much. Some people can keep up the pace because they are fit and they practice a lot, but some are just good runners. Most of the good runners in the senior block are from Rooms 12 and 10, and there are only a few of fit runners in Room 9.
In our daily fitness we have some rules that we have to follow. The rules are:
1. If you are a slow runner move to the left
2. If you are overtaking move slightly to the right
3. When you are tying your shoelaces, move aside.

The Big Storm
http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2018/04/weather-why-auckland-was-hit-so-hard-by-storm.html
The 10th of April was one of the worst nights of my life because it was the biggest storm to ever hit Auckland. Experts say that it was the natural wind tunnel that caused the big hurricane-force winds. My opinion was that the wind was just getting stronger and stronger. News reporter Duncan Garner was mad at officials for not being prepared for the huge storm coming their way. An expert had said that the storm started from the Tasman Sea and then worked its way up to South Auckland and then around the whole of Auckland. Most people in Glen Innes had their power cut and it was very dark. They had no power because a tree fell and wrecked the power lines. In the morning things were very disorganised like trees being broken and power lines hanging down.

The Commonwealth Games
In the Commonwealth Games a 11 year old girl known as Anna Hursey is a Table Tennis expert. She is from Britain and a representative from the Wales.
When Anna Hursey was just 5 years old she was already playing Table Tennis. Whilst she was still 10 she wanted to join the Commonwealth Games, so she did. She competed for Wales in the European Championship qualification match against Kosovo and she also competed in the World Cadet Challenge in the same year.
During the year of 2018 she competed in the Commonwealth Games with Carey. They both played against another double from India known as Madhurika Patkar and Mouma Das. Obviously Hursey and her partner claimed the victory with a score of 3 to 2. Anna Hursey is hyped for her next matches.

Pancakes With Chocolate Syrup
Today we made pancakes with chocolate syrup. It was quite an easy dish to make but some parts we had to use hot heat. All we had to do was collect some dry ingredients known as Sun.Rising.Flour and White Sugar. We also had to add some milk and an egg. As soon as we had all the ingredients, then we had to mix it till it became smooth enough to scoop up.
After all the mixing we had to on the oven and put the pan on the elements. Now we had to get some butter from the front and half it in to a bowl. Straight after that we had to butter the pan and then add the butter. The reason we had to add the butter was so that the pancake doesn't stick to the pan. When the butter was getting watery we had to add two scoops of the cream into the pan and we then had to wait. The teacher Mrs Tuipulotu said we had to flip it when 5 mins is up so, I flipped the pancake and it was perfect. Laki and I than waited until the last pancakes were ready, once it was ready Laki shared the pancakes equally and then we waited. Before we went to the teacher we had to make our pancakes stylish so I just put mine separately into the corners. I had to put some chocolate syrup on each pancake and then I was done.
When I finished I had to get ready to take a photo shoot. As soon as I was ready I had to go back to the teacher and take my photo. Before that I had to wash the dishes and sweep the floor. Lastly I had to wait for the second period and then start blogging. I can't wait for next week!

Syndicate Assembly
On Monday we had a syndicate assembly and Rm 12 hosted it. In the assembly we had two songs and a game. The hosts were Pupuke, Joanlisi, Saluselo and Henry.
Henry had to introduce the classes to the syndicate assembly, after that Pupuke had to introduce a song to sing and it was called This is Me by Keala Settle. This song was from The Greatest Showman and it was also Pupuke's favourite song. When we sang the song Tupouseini introduced the game called Syndicate Got Talent. The contestants were from each class and from Rm 9 were Ong Minut and Aleki, Rm 10 were Uinita and Reality and from Rm 12 were Pupuke and Katrina.
Ong Minut and Aleki was the best in free styling and they went crazy, Aleki started break dancing and Ong just copied. At the end Rm 9 were announced as the winners.
Then Joanlisi had to announce the last song but sadly it didn't work so we had to sing Capella. We just sang some Maori songs and then Saluselo finished off the assembly with a little goodbye speech and then the syndicate assembly was over. Before the assembly was over the teachers had to come up and present their certificates to their students in each class. From our class were Pupuke and Kain.

Making Tomato Soup At Tech!
Today Group A created Tomato Soup with Mrs Tuipulotu at Tech. The ingredients we used were one can of tomatoes, flour and water. I worked with Laki and he's from St Pius.
We had to first wash our pot then tip the chopped tomatoes in. Following that, we had to put the pot on the stove and let it boil. Next, when it was ready we had to taste it and if it wasn't ready we had to add some brown sugar.
After we finished with that we had to stir and put it back on the stove, but Mrs Tuipulotu said "Once the first bubble pops you have to remove the pot from the element and put it on the side of the sink".
Lastly we had to get some bowls from the back room and then go to Mrs Tuipulotu. We gave our bowls to her and she put some rice into the bowl and then, we had to add the Tomato Soup.

My Teko Teko
Last week we had art with Mr Reid and we drew a little monster known as a Teko Teko. It was a Maori sculpture that had Maori patterns that we had to draw in or outside it. The patterns were pukeko ///,mako ^,stingray (diamond) and the fern. When I finished sketching and colouring my Teko Teko I had to draw some patterns on the outside. I had to sketch all my patterns in first and then when I was finished I then got a black marker and drew over all the lines. Then I had to colour all the patterns in and I was done.

Who Am I
Hello my name is Leaaepeni and I am a year 7 student at Ruapotaka School. I was born in New Zealand but was raised in Tonga with my brother. One thing about me is that I’m kind of dynamic.
I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters and plus my parents we make a total of 9. My favourite hobbies are: playing, watching movies and helping my dad work. When I was young, When I turned five I went to school instantly. I was in my first school for about 4 years, then i moved to Ruapotaka School. I have been at Ruapotaka School for only 3 years and it’s about to become four.
When I go to college I want to study science so I can explode things. I also want to make projects that will be world honoured and things that will make people buy it. I want to also make fireworks that can explode and be so loud that people can get scared. Lucky last I’d like to make a Rocket Ship that would fly at least 4 metres.
Then when I’m finished college I’d like to participate in the army and become a soldier. I want to become a soldier because I want to travel to LA and then New York. Then I’d like to travel all over the country and stop crime like the other soldiers. I also want to be in the war sometime or when there is a war on.
